Recipe
Sweet Red wine
Brandy or Rum
Fresh oranges
Cinnamon sticks
Cloves
Star Anise
Cardamon pods
Maple Syrup, honey or brown sugar for sweetening (if you use sweet wine you will need less)
Start out with just a few spices try 3 cloves, 1/2 star anise, and 1 cinnamon stick, 1 cardamon pod, few orange slices. Let it simmer for 15 minutes and taste the wine. Add more spices at this point if the taste is still too mild. Add sweetener to taste or let your guest add their own.
Note: Simmer not cook, do not let the mixture come to boil. Alcohol cooks out at 175 degree Fahrenheit. Wine can simmer up to 3 hours.

Thank you. Here is the simple recipe for mullen wine Mullen Wine: 1 bottle dry red wine (about 4 cups) up to 8 whole cloves, I would add 4 and than taste in between. They wary in size. 3-4 peppercorns tea spoon vanilla extract table spoon of lemon or orange zest, orange slice and cinnamon stick for garnish Simmer for about 10 minutes and serve warm in a glass tea cup There are many recipes out there. Try out which one you like best this one is simple. Others might add some bay leave, nutmeg, even ginger. You can dehydrate the lemon and orange zest and make little spice bags ready for the unexpected guest or party bring along. I use cheesecloth to make the packages. They would make great gifts with that bottle of red wine you take to your next holiday party.
